ive thrown together a couple of dinners for the yelp crowd since last entry. it was good. first one, we all went over to toms uncles joint on taraval, shin toe bul yi. about 17 of us took up about half the place and had a good old time. the usuals, seabass stew, fish egg soup, sam gyup sal, cha dol bae ghee, fried chicken, beer and soju. everyone seemed to like it. thats good. since then. the place has become the second most bookmarked (as per the hot list) on sf yelp. nice. but damn that place is already always packed. maybe it wasnt a good idea to give them a wider audience. damn it all to hell if i dont get a table next time.
that night was cool too cause kati came out. after such a tramatic experience and having the media constantly around you and being a widow and having two businesses and two young kids has to be hard. shes an amazing women. im glad she came out and had a nice night out with some folks. man she can drink. ahhahah shes definately got korean cred. ahhahah funny shit. theres this nice korean girl ive met recently. shes a transplant from ny. i was asking the usual, last name, where youre family is from... she was lost after last name. i told her she lost all korean cred with me. this night at shin toe bul yi, this korean transplant was sitting next to kati, whos white and kati ask do you know what jeju do dong dae ghee is while eating sam gyup sal. i lost it . HAHAHAHHA i was like holy shit kati how the fuck do you know what that is. she grabs a soju jan and knocks one back. damn thats awesome. ny transplant had no idea what was going on. korean cred she must earn.
this week we went to bay fung tong on balboa. ahhhh i love cantonese food. i think dating this one particular cantonese lady made me a life long cantonese fan. hey jenn! i went to town on them chu yum gais. for a table of 15 or so, we got the 168 banquet meal and a few extra orders of crabs and other veggies..... everything was pretty damn good and only 20 bucks per person. seriously bay fung tong has to be one of the best large group dinner joints in sf.
weird though. stopped by fizzees since we were in the neighborhood. when did it become an irish bar? besides us, the only people there were three irish guys, including the bartender. wtf happend to fizzees?
